CARMEL, CA – The 38th Annual Big Sur International Marathon, set to take place on Sunday, April 27th, has officially SOLD OUT its five race distances – The Marathon (including entries to its VIP Program Presented by HOKA) & Marathon Relay, 21-Miler, 11-Miler, 12K, & 5K.
Every year, runners are drawn to the breathtaking views along Highway 1, eager to experience the thrill of “Running on the Ragged Edge of the Western World.” In August, we opened a drawing for the 2025 marathon entries, and in early September, the random drawing was conducted and runners were notified of their entry status.
“Seeing the incredible enthusiasm from the running community reinforces the unique experience we offer at the Big Sur International Marathon,” said Dino Pick, Chair of the Board of Directors. “We can’t wait to welcome runners in April 2025 as they tackle this bucket-list, unforgettable course.”
Although general registration categories are now sold out, there are still opportunities to participate in the 2025 Big Sur International Marathon. Runners can secure entries through one of our official charity partners or by purchasing a Youth Fitness Entry – whose entry fees support youth running opportunities in Monterey County.
Additionally, in keeping with tradition, a limited number of marathon entries have been reserved for Boston Marathon participants looking to conquer the prestigious Boston 2 Big Sur Challenge presented by HOKA, which opens for registration on October 22nd. This unique program invites participants to conquer two of the world’s greatest marathons back-to-back with this year’s presentation spanning a mere 6 days. All Boston 2 Big Sur participants receive exclusive gear, custom training programs and coaching from HOKA, and enjoy a finisher tent on race day featuring premium seating, food, and beverages.
