Big Sur Marathon Taps Sufferfest Beer Co. as Official Beer Sponsor

Beer celebrates those who sweat for their beer and suffer well

Carmel, CA (April 17, 2019) — The Big Sur Marathon Foundation has announced that Sufferfest Beer Company is the new Official Beer Sponsor of the Big Sur International Marathon. The two California companies share values of being purpose-driven and focus on creating experiences that prioritize mission, impact, and celebration.

“Sufferfest embodies the spirit of our athletes and uniquely caters to the finish line with premium, thoughtfully crafted beer ,” said Christy Slye, partnerships manager of the Big Sur Marathon Foundation. “What’s more, Sufferfest’s B Corp values align with our focus on environmental sustainability and keeping our events as close to zero-waste as possible.”

Big Sur Marathon’s “Green Team” strives toward becoming a zero-waste event each year, with strategic recycling, compost, and reusability programs developed into its footprint.

Celebrating its 34th presentation on April 28, with over 4,800 total entrants, the dramatic road, a designated National Scenic Byway, offers incredible views of the steep wooded hills that rise from the rocky shores and crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. The Big Sur International Marathon is consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful and challenging marathons in the world. It has also been reviewed as the “best destination marathon” and annually draws runners from all 50 states and more than 35 countries.

“Our favorite taproom is at the finish line,” said Caitlin Landesberg, CEO and founder of the Sufferfest Beer Company. “Sufferfest has authentic origins within the endurance community and we are so excited to sponsor such an iconic marathon and sweat with fellow runners.”

Driven by the desire to have the best “finish line” beer in the world, Caitlin Landesberg took matters into her own hands. As fellow runners and endurance athletes rapidly drove demand, she launched Sufferfest Beer Company in Spring 2016.

A Certified B Corporation, Sufferfest continues to disrupt the industry with its craft-without-compromise principles by using ingredients not commonly found in beer to develop great tasting, innovative brews inspired by athletes and meant to be shared after any sweaty endeavor. Two classic Sufferfest brews include FKT Pale Ale, brewed with black currant and salt, and Repeat Kolsch with a mere 95 calories, 5 grams of carbs and added bee pollen. All of Sufferfest’s beers are also gluten-removed.

As the Official Beer Sponsor, Sufferfest will have a major presence at the two-day Health & Fitness Expo and the marathon’s finish village.
